This project was for a client in the Del Mar area who wanted a drought tolerant and low-maintenance landscape design for their modern home. They were interested in the ‘Same-Day Sketch’ service which we scheduled and was completed in about 5-hours from start to finish.
The design included creating a right-triangular layout for dividing a rectangular area in half with (2) different cobblestone colors and utilizing low-water use plants including a few picked out from the palette in the neighborhood. The side of the house included all rock and shade tolerant planting including star-jasmine, pink flowering camellias & yellow clivias some of which could be seen from their kitchen window.
Finally, the back patio was an intimate setting with partial sun and an existing modernized fountain with a view overlooking the ocean. The same triangular layout with dividing the stones was incorporated here to tie in with the front yard and also added was a fine balance of colorful and interesting plants, a few including ‘Red Sister’ cordylines, ‘Afterglow’ echeverias and a ‘Purple Diamond’ loropetalum.
